UK iPhone users get Media Messaging

January 21st, 2009 by Ted | No Comments | Filed in rumors, software

If you live in the United Kingdom, you no longer have to exist without MMS (media messaging system) messaging on your iPhone, but US iPhone users will have to keep waiting, according to iPhone Hacks.  Also, it appears that this app’s dependence upon UK carrier O2 is the main reason why it’s only available in the UK at this point.  In theory, the same technique could be applied to AT&T.  Any UK users to this yet?  How does it work?

Simplify Media: Slingbox in your pocket

August 14th, 2008 by Ted | No Comments | Filed in software

Fans of the Slingbox will really dig this.  Simplify media allows you to stream media from your Mac to your iPhone over the Internet, regardless of how your iPhone is connecting to the Net– that is, WiFi, EDGE, and 3G connectivity are all supported. Load it up and your media appears on the iPhone to browse and stream.  The first 100,000 downloaders of the iPhone application may do so at no cost, but when this puppy hits 100k on the appstore, the authors have promised to raise the price to $3.99.  Not a bad price–and much cheaper than a Slingbox.  Check out the video at TUAW.
